Seriously?

What is this all about?

Employers want to be able to differentiate between people. What’s the point of a system where so many people do well. It’s completely pointless. I’d prefer tests which no one can pass, where everyone falls somewhere between 1-100 and you then know exactly what you’re getting.

Am I being ridiculous?

This is just awful. It goes back to some parents not taking responsibility for their kids these days. Too often we hear, “oh there must be something wrong with my child because he didn’t pass the test.” So, they’ll call it a learning disability and prescribe some drugs and let them take tests a zillion times. I know there are kids out there with genuine problems, but I know several parents who use it as an excuse to blame teachers. In my day, you had one chance. You passed or you failed

Failing was a bad thing too. Now people go to all sorts of lengths to convince you that it doesn’t really matter. It’s taking part that counts! What? No it’s not. It’s winning/passing!
