Mondays
I once read that after shooting a number of people dead the only explanation offered by the gunman was that he didn’t like Mondays. I don’t even know if that story is even vaguely related to real events but it seems to get some sort of non-specific approval from those I tell about it. As though killing people on a Monday somehow made more sense than doing it on some other day of the week. I sure hope he had better reasons. Like being a sociopath, or having some serious truck with those involved. At least I hope there were other reasons, if indeed this horrendous event ever took place. I mean, how would I verify a story like that. Would I even want to know that it happened?
Personally I have no problem with Mondays. If anything they’re a new beginning to me, a chance to start over or try something different. Honestly, I think what people are getting at here is that they don’t like Fridays. Why not? Because they totally failed to complete any of last week’s tasks, have then been in denial over the weekend and are now furious to have reality pop back up and pop them on the nose.
This week I love Mondays because I am up to date with my life. Yes it’s a lifetime first but why spoil it by thinking about the last few years of being irritated eh?
Of course, I may be up to date because I don’t have a great deal to do. I’m signed off work at the moment because I have Sciatica. Do not underestimate that word. Do not think for a moment, “Oh hey that’s not so bad” It’s awful. I have been unable to feel my toes for days. I am yet to find a comfortable position for my body. Don’t talk to me about sleep. After all, my Monday started at 00.01.
So if you have the silver bullet. If you can tell me the all-purpose pose that will give me some relief. Consider yourself my mate, my best friend, ally and confidante, and tell me!
